www.kerryhendry.co.uk-1394I was very lucky to have my work featured in the Sunday Telegraph this weekend, and putting together the piece for the paper got me thinking.

Why do I love working with horses so much? This could be a long conversation…

But just one of the things I love about photographing horses – and indeed having a horse in your life full stop – is that they enable you to slow you down and teach you to live in the moment, to enjoy Mindfulness. In this world where we all race round like crazy, a horse can transport you to your own private world. One in which there is no wifi, no phone signal, no one hassling you. Just you and the horse – and often in a wild open landscape somewhere. Sun (or rain!) on your face, wind in your hair, just horse and mother nature. Simplicity, peace, meaning.

While we all love the big action shots, some of the more abstract, minimal images are among my favourites – the ‘quiet’ images.  Shape, form, colour, light and shade, the unmistakably beautiful curves of a horse’s physique – all the things you start to appreciate more, if you take the time to look.
